The USDA conducts unannounced visits to our facility to test our extra virgin and pure olive oils for their chemical composition, and also monitors the processing and packaging procedures. Gourmet Factory and the Kangadis Family – Building a Legacy in Olive Oil and Mediterranean Food for Decades

Gourmet Factory’s love for olive oil and all foods Mediterranean dates back to 1969, when Aristidis and Andromahi Kangadis, a husband and wife who had emigrated from Greece to America only four years earlier, opened a grocery market in Astoria, Queens, named the Panellinion Deli. In order to cut out the middleman and control the quality of their inventory more closely, the Kangadis family started importing their food directly, namely their olive oil. As a growing number of restaurants were buying goods from the Kangadis family, Kangadis Foods was formed, and the family bought a warehouse in order to house a 1,500-gallon olive oil holding tank. As the years went by, the output of olive oil and other Mediterranean foods has increased, and Gourmet Factory was formed under the parent company Kangadis Foods. Today, Aristidis and Andromahi’s son Themis Kangadis is at the helm of operations in our facility in Hauppage, New York. We believe that our decades of passion and experience for Mediterranean food are evident in every bite or drop of our products.
